UWS CERT Marks Its Fifth National Night Out

The weather cooperated and Upper West Siders came out in droves to enjoy the festive midsummer atmosphere. It was Tuesday, August 2, 2011, and a perfect evening for the “28th Annual National Night Out” (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).

UWS Businesses Are Invited to Attend a Ready New York Presentation & Deli Tasting at Artie’s Delicatessen

Upper West Side CERT, a program of the New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM), will host a Ready New York presentation for businesses at Artie’s Deli, 2290 Broadway (bet. W. 82 & 83 Sts.), on Monday, May 2, 2011, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

UWS CERT Holds Its First Ready New York Presentation

Deputy team leader Ian Alterman, who is also the CERT team’s outreach chair, made the presentation to a lively and diverse audience that included Upper West Siders, CERT recruits-in-training, and members of the Red Oak senior community, as well as CERT team members.

It’s National Preparedness Month – Get Ready New York!

On Monday, September 20, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., Upper West Side CERT will demonstrate what to do in an emergency or disaster situation: how to make an emergency plan; how to assemble a Go Bag and home supply kit; when and how to evacuate; how to locate loved ones; and more. The event will be held in the community room of the Red Oak Apartments, 135 West 106 Street, between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues, New York City.
